The Beverley CC 4th XI completed the double over bottom of the table Wawne when they won by five wickets at Hodgsons. The home side was asked to bat first on a damp wicket which played surprisingly well.
However, Wawne were restricted to a modest 138 all out, this after they made a good start when the opening bowlers gave away too many extras and generally bowled too many four balls. Sam Horton had the best return of 4 for 36 and there were three wickets each for Sam Welburn (3-28) and Jamie Nowell (3-26). James Broekhuizen took three catches and young keeper Rob Fish claimed his sixteenth victim of the season.
Beverley made an indecisive start with only Neil Goforth (18) and Will Smith (13) in double figures as, with five wickets down, only half of the required runs had been scored.
Ray Teal (46 no) and Rob Fish (20 no) eased any worries with an unbroken partnership of 72. The target was reached with almost nine overs to spare and saw the 4ths record their sixth twenty point maximum of the season.
